really, this is the last one!!!

yesterday i finally remembered to take the rent check to the landlord. when hollis fell asleep, i asked asa if he would go with me to pay my rent. he was surprised that we pay someone to live in our home, one more fact to add to his obsessive curiosity of apartment living. anyways, we walked around to the back of the building, down flooded stairs to the basement entrance, where we walked through a squeaky door, and knocked at the next. when a deep voice shouted "come in," we enter a half-finished office space with two of the buildings caretakers sitting with their feet on the landlord's desk. the men talked to asa about hunting, and they made jokes about the landlord being out of town, how they were going to cash the rent check. we walked back towards the door, asa checking out all of the dark and cold corners that have yet to be remodeled. he walked proud, reiterating to me that he is the best hunter that ever lived. we reached the exit of this masculine basement and were greeted by the sunlight. asa turned to me with a huge smile, "that was so great! we have to go to the lawn mower (the landlord) again sometime!"
