these are the "music makers" designed, and mostly crafted, by asa. the tubular ones are constructed out of cardboard, and the drum is obviously a recycled salsa container (that i am hoping to "lose" because, along with its handmade rhythm, it emanates a stomach turning, sour smell of cilantro and rotten tomatoes)! hollis awoke from her nap with asa hoovering over her, shaking these noise makers in her face. she is such a good natured kid, she simply picked up her half-empty (or always in her case, half-full) bottle and joined in!! i usually don't let him wake her up, preferring that she gets up naturally, but when he is that genuinely excited about sharing something with her, i can't resist to just stand back and smile at the memories that they are making together.
you do realize that when i am actually in a picture it is because the four year old is taking it? he took these action shots!!! i am thinking about starting him a portfolio! he always talks about having one of his books in the library someday, how great it would be to share his pictures with others. he also talks about his "narvel" being published. he will say to me sometimes, "jami, uh, it is time for me to write. could you please open a word document?" he types away, with much determination, his colorful nonsense masterpiece, and then dramatically he hits the last key, "finished!"
