i miss these girls! it was always the case that as soon as the baby kileigh would be comfortable and relaxed, kiley would come home from school and pull her out of my arms. my sister always just happened to miss the morning work of watching an infant: the diapers, bottle-feeding a baby who would have rather been nursing with her mother, and all of that that walking/dancing! kileigh had been ready to move since the day of her birth, and i remember how funny i thought it was when holding her at this age. she was unusually active and would rather climb up your body and stretch out her own limbs and neck than be held closely. but somehow kiley would always miss those energetic and sometimes tense moments, and would get to enjoy her as a cuddly baby. she would continue to calm with kiley. like clockwork, they would fall asleep, snuggling, on the couch, usually to the sound of "days of our lives" (kiley's vice) in the background. both would drool and sweat a bit, their chests slightly damp when one of them would finally wake up. and those smiley, happy moments when a baby wakes up from a nap refreshed? of course, kiley got those moments too! i can't wait until my sisters have children. kiley is going to be such a cool mom. her children will be exposed to different cultures at an early age. they will most likely speak 3 different languages and run barefoot through villages across the globe. she will be so relaxed and natural with them, hold them while examining a patient. she will pass out many kisses, to her children and all their friends from around the world. of course, i will probably have to move to south america too, to make sure that she feeds them, and teaches them, and doesn't let them watch "days of our lives" while she is napping!
