







built in 1913, the placer was once the capital's luxury hotel. (even jfk slept under her roof!) the pictures are how the building originally looked to guests of the hotel. the developer, along with the condo association (forming now), will be working with the montana historical society to recieve grants and funding to restore the lobby. i am hoping that these other rooms (the cafe, ballroom,etc.) are still there also. i believe that barber shop was located in the basement, which the developer is turning into a spa and health center. on the main level, its business doors located on the walking mall, is the "made in montana store," which is for sale. i would love to see someone invest in restoring it to the once thriving, upscale piano/jazz lounge, "cheerio."

wow! a new place?! how exciting!! can't wait to see it all fixed up.
so i've got a "real" job now (that will give me vacation eventually). hopefully it will fund a trip to montana in the next six months or so (or at least before ya'll decide to high-tail it back to arkansaw).
